HTTP is no longer an option

Having HTTP and not HTTPS in your website address means less traffic and less business.

You may have heard people urging you to switch your website to the HTTPS security encryption. They cite Google’s announcement that HTTPS is a ranking signal and that failure to switch could mean your ranking will take a hit.

For more than a year, Google Chrome has been marking more and more HTTP web pages as "not secure".

Google made an announcement  that July 2018, Google Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”, continuing their campaign to secure the web.

Why HTTPS matters

Losing search rankings is bad enough but your site visitors who see a “not secure” warning when visiting your website will be much more reluctant to trust your brand or make purchases.

“You should always protect all of your websites with HTTPS, even if they don’t handle sensitive communications.”

HTTPS protects your website visitors by eliminating unprotected communications.

Developers can now create powerful tools that can provide new offline experiences but they depend on HTTPS.
